Catalog Service Providers
The meta data for data analysis no longer needs to be stored in a separate repository known only to a specific BI product. The Enterprise Blocks Catalog Service can be used to organize and provide access to objects such as reports, graphs, custom members, and saved filters stored inside a meta data repository. This repository can be any number of pre-existing environments including an enterprise portal, a BI product report repository, or a simple Windows file system.
Below is a description of the Enterprise Blocks catalog service providers.
Microsoft Reporting Services
Click from inside any Microsoft Reporting Services report to switch to a zero-footprint, full-featured OLAP client to slice, dice, and filter data. Using the new Enterprise Blocks Catalog Service Provider for Microsoft Reporting Services, analyses can be saved into the Reporting Services catalog which also makes this solution a powerful web-based publishing tool for Reporting Services.

Microsoft SharePoint Portal
Using the Enterprise Blocks Catalog Service Provider for Microsoft SharePoint Portal, the results of data analysis can be created, edited, saved, and retrieved from any document library inside Microsoft SharePoint Portal. This means that live reports and charts (not static documents) can be persisted inside the portal. There is no Web Part necessary. Enterprise Blocks integrates at a lower level using document templates to persist all of the objects that support a given data analysis inside the portal. This also means that all of the document services of the portal, including search and check in/out, can be used with database reports and charts from inside the portal.

Plumtree Enterprise Web
Plumtree Enterprise Web is an enterprise portal framework with a rich set of document directory and content management services. Enterprise Blocks created new document types for Plumtree that allow data analysis objects, including the meta data for live reports and charts, to be persisted inside the Plumtree directory structure. These objects appear as documents to the portal. As such, all of the document services of the portal are available to use with the results of data analysis. No gadget or portlet is needed. Plumtree's own document directory browser can be used to navigate through and open live database reports and charts stored inside Plumtree's folder taxonomy.

Microsoft Windows
Doing some custom development? Not using a portal or other commercial software product with a meta data repository? Every Microsoft .NET based application has access to the Windows file system for free. The Enterprise Blocks Catalog Service Provider for Microsoft Windows turns a Windows file system into an object repository for data analysis. Using this provider, objects such as reports, charts, custom members, and saved filters are serialized into XML documents and stored inside Windows folders on the server. When a client application requests a report or chart, the provider transparently re-serializes the XML back into a native report or chart.

DotNetNuke Portal
DotNetNuke is a free open source portal framework based on the original iBuySpy code base from Microsoft. Written in Microsoft .NET, DotNetNuke is designed to be used as a template for building your own portal application.
DotNetNuke provides a great portal framework but does not provide any document management services. As such, it does not support setting up a folder taxonomy to house enterprise report and chart objects. Enterprise Blocks is developing an object repository and corresponding catalog service provider for DotNetNuke. This will allow folders to be set up within DotNetNuke and Enterprise Blocks objects to be saved and retrieved from inside these folders. The role based security of DotNetNuke can be used to protect the folders and objects inside the repository.
